In case you are still wondering why bother creating a Community Plan it’s worth looking back to the first plan, now almost 10 years old to see some of the main goals and what has changed since.
Changes in the last 10 years
- Things that were asked for and which we can reasonably say that we have achieved over time, either by our own efforts or otherwise:
- Dog fouling dealt with
- Spiritualist use of Memorial Hall dealt with
- Poor facilities at pub – now under new ownership and very good
- Allotment area to be restored – in process of happening now
- Noise from Trunkwell – dealt with under new management
- Broadband needs improving – everyone now has access to very fast Gigaclear
- Neighbourhood Watch – schemes increased
- Village Shop needed – done, ran for many years but eventually had to close through lack of support and other reasons
- More clubs desirable – many clubs thriving in the new Memorial Hall
- Memorial Hall and Church parking – new Church lay-by paid for by shop and better managed Memorial Hall parking have minimised problems
The Community Plan aims to identify areas where people have concerns or where changes or improvements should take place. Some the above items were tackled by committee members and some by other organisations. But the fact that these things were identified as needing change has no doubt helped things to improve for the better in Beech Hill during nthe last 10 years. By contributingyour thoughts to the Community Plan and, even better, taking part in any subsequent actions, you can help to make Beech Hill a better place now and for the future.
